Motorola Moto G82 5G Review

Motorola’s Moto G82 5G offers great value, with an affordable price and an emphasis on the basics. If you’re looking for something with 5G internet access and all of the latest apps and services, you’ll want to look elsewhere. But if you just want to be able to browse your social media and make calls and texts, the Moto G82 5G might be just what you’re looking for at a good price point.

Introduction

We just got our hands on the new Moto G82 5G and we've been having a blast with it! This is Motorola's latest release in their G lineup of affordable but high-quality smartphones. The G series has always been a favorite of ours because they're great for family members who don't need all the bells and whistles offered by more expensive phones.

The Moto G82 5G is no exception.

Design and Display

The Motorola Moto G82 is a good-looking device for the price. It has a 6.2-inch FHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch at the top like many modern-day phones. The screen has good viewing angles, and it's bright enough to be used outdoors in direct sunlight. The design is slick, but not too flashy and the back of the device is made up of two pieces of glass which give it a very premium feel which can be seen when you're holding it in your hand. In terms of performance, there are no noticeable lags or jitters when you're scrolling through menus or switching between apps.

Camera

The lens of the camera is a 13MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and it has an LED flash for low-light situations. The front-facing camera is 8MP, also with an f/1.7 aperture, and it does not have a flash for selfies in the dark. This means you can take portraits in low light, but you won’t be able to use the front-facing camera for them because there is no LED flash option available. There are four shooting modes: Auto, Pro mode (manual), Panorama, and Slow Motion Video.

Performance

The Motorola Moto G82 5G is an unlocked phone with a display of 6.2 inches, an 18:9 aspect ratio, and 1080 x 2160 pixels. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The main camera has 13MP +5MP dual sensors with PDAF autofocus and the front-facing camera is 8MP with fixed focus and f/2.0 aperture. There are dual SIM slots for 2x Nano SIM cards which support 4G LTE bands 1/3/5/7/8/38 (FDD). It has a 3200mAh battery with support for 10W Qi wireless charging as well as a fingerprint sensor and NFC chip.

Battery Life

The battery life is pretty good and lasts at least a day of heavy use. I was able to get about 6 hours of screen-on time before I had to charge it. That's about the same as my Pixel 3. Keep in mind, this is a 5G phone so the battery will drain faster than other phones. When it does run out, you can easily plug it in for an hour or two and have a 50% chargeback.

Verdict

The Motorola Moto G82 is the first new generation of the hugely popular Motorola moto g series. The Moto g line has always been a great way to get a fully featured smartphone without spending an arm and a leg, and this version is no different. While there are plenty of good things about this phone, it does have one major drawback. If you're looking for a cheap and cheerful budget 5G phone then the Motorola moto g82 is for you.
